We are proud to host the premiere of ‘Type 1 Fun,’ a new documentary from director Emily Cooney Exploring the relationship between outdoor sports and Type 1 Diabetes.. This will be followed by ‘Girl Climber,’ which tracks Emily Harrington as she sets out to conquer Yosemite’s El Capitan in under 24 hours.

Type 1 Fun: Exploring the relationship between outdoor sports and Type 1 Diabetes. (25 Minutes)

An ultrarunner, a climber, a surfer, an alpinist, two paragliders and a filmmaker enjoy the outdoors in different ways but share similar challenges. Type 1 diabetes has long been misunderstood and they’re here to change that.

Type 1 fun stemmed from the filmmaker’s personal experience and a curiosity on how others manage their diabetes within their chosen sport. The film aims to highlight remote outdoor sports in diverse environments—such as water, air, earth, rock, and snow—and examine how each one affects diabetes management.

By sharing fun experiences and stories of success with type 1 diabetes in outdoor sports we hope to encourage those with T1 to access the UK’s natural landscapes and strengthen their self-belief, self-reliance and independence that are inherently learned in these environments.

Girl Climber (83 Minutes)
