It’s been a while since we ran a regular Lead Comp at Beacon… so here it is. Sunday 9th February. All day event from 10am to 8pm. 15 routes from 6a to 8a+. And a cash prize fund.
Scorecards for the competition are £2 per person, with £1 to be entered into the Winner’s Prize Fund and £1 entered into the Raffle Prize Fund. At the end of the competition, the climbers with the highest scores in each of the 4 categories will each receive 25% of the Winner’s Prize Fund. All submitted scorecards will then be entered into a raffle and the first draw will win 100% of the Raffle Prize Fund.
So… the more people that enter, the bigger the prize fund and everyone entering has a chance to walk away with a wadge of cash. Add it to your calendar. Recruit your mates. It could well be your most profitable climbing session ever…
The boring but important bit… In order to facilitate the creation of an excellent competition set, some areas within the main lead room will be closed for setting all day Thursday 6th and all day Friday 7th February. The main room will also be closed until approximately 4pm on Saturday 8th February due to the BMC YOUTH CLIMBING SERIES hosted at Beacon. Sorry. But it will be worth it.

2 age categories: Age less than 45, Age 45 and above
£2 to enter plus your normal entry fee.
15 routes from 6a to 8a+.
5pts for a top if you redpoint the route (multiple tries).
10pts for a top if you flash the route (1st try).
A top is defined as climbing the route without resting and clipping the anchor from the last hold – grabbing the top of the wall is invalid.
