Our bouldering problems use a colour coded circuit grading system with each colour designating a particular band of difficulty on the internationally recognised ‘Font’ grading system, with problems ranging from F1 to F8A.
We use 8 bands: 1-5, 3-6A, 5-6B, 6A-6C, 6B-7A, 6C-7B, 7A-8A and 3-8A with each denoted by a specific colour. The colour allocation for each band changes (allowing us to set the greatest variety of problems) with the current colours displayed on the bouldering area notice boards. 3-8A is the mystery circuit… ignore the grade & climb for fun!
The starting holds for all problems are tagged and problems finish on the highest hold of the problem colour. The coloured holds for each problem are used for both hands and feet – smearing on the blank wall is fine, and all arêtes and volumes are allowed.
