Big Rock Climbing Centre

Big Rock Climbing Centre in Milton Keynes is part of the ClimbUK group, comprising of indoor climbing centres in Milton Keynes, North Wales and Rochdale.

Opened in September 2010, Big Rock Climbing Centre was the first of its kind in both structure and facilities and provided Beacon Climbing Walls with a unique challenge. Since the 15000 sq. ft. warehouse housing the centre was not tall enough to accommodate a lead climbing wall of the desired height, contractors dug a pit 2.5m below ground level. The pit was 15m x 8m, took 10 weeks to dig and produced 39 lorry loads of material.

This innovative solution allowed the construction of climbing walls 11m in height with overhangs providing routes up to 12m in length.
