The Winter Aggregate 10-11 Commences the 3rd of October!

This winter heralds a new direction for the aggregate, and ushers in a new age of fun and fair play.

Hundreds of problems, Spot prizes galore, Funky new volumes, Brand new ranges of holds..

The End of winter Grand Bouldering Bash!

8th April 2011

An evening of celebration and competition, with the cream of the aggregate invited to battle for the top dog with cash prizes for the great and good. There will be a live DJ set and a Mega Raffle of donated prizes for all aggregate participants present, spectators and competitors alike.



Back To School Bouldering Comp -Date Change Shocker!: (04/08/2010)

 

The hugely popular "Back to School" Bouldering Competition is jumping from its traditional slot of the last Saturday of September to bring it closer to the 1st of October (the commencement of the winter aggregate). This  fun bouldering competition for young people aged 7 -17 provides a great day of challenge and merriment.

So the date for your diaries is the 2nd of October 2010.

New boulder problems: (28/07/2010)

 

New boulder problems being set today, completing our font-style circuits for the summer. We've also got some funky new Core volumes going up, along with a prototype Beacon volume. Come in and check them out! 



Alpkit Fig 4's come to the Beacon: (20/07/2010)

 

We now have a set of Alpkit's Figure 4 dry tools available to hire at The Beacon. If you've not tried these before they're a great way of training those winter climbing muscles and just damn good fun! Guaranteed to get your pump on.

They're £4 to hire for a session and you'll need to get one of The Beacon staff to give you a quick run-through on how to use them if it's your first time. We'll get some pics up soon.

Busy week at The Beacon!: (09/07/2010)

 

It's been a rainy old week in North Wales, so we've been busy here at The Beacon -lots of groups and lots of soggy looking climbers rained off the crags!


Big Rock Climbing Centre: (01/07/2010)

 

The Beacon's expert wall-building team are hard at work in Milton Keynes at the new Big Rock Climbing Centre. You can follow their progress here - looks like its going to be a great facility!



CWA training course this weekend: (21/06/2010)

 

 

We have one space left on a CWA training course running this weekend (26th-27th june) at The Beacon. The cost is £115 and our course includes training for the optional abseil module. Candidiates will need to be registered for the award before attending a training course. For more info or to book, please call the centre on 0845 450 8222.



The Summer Set: (13/06/2010)

 

We've started setting a series of "Font" like circuits to tide us over until the Winter aggregate is upon us once more. The idea is to create 7 circuits of 10 or so problems each for you to romp round. The Problems are longer and linkable for ease of getting totally pumped, with a new cyclic circuit area behind the tree to help you achieve that 1,000 move link...


Wet Paint!: (10/06/2010)

 

 

We're having a bit of a spruce up at The Beacon this week, a lick of paint here and there in preparation for the summer. We'll also be putting up some display boards of some of our great new hold shapes.

NEW - Climbing Wall Leading Award course dates: (07/06/2010)

 

 

The Beacon is pleased to announce that we will be running our first training course for the new Climbing Wall Leading Award (CWLA) on Wednesday 14th July. 

 

The CWLA is aimed at instructors who want to supervise and teach lead climbing on artificial climbing walls and is open CWA and SPA holders with substantial experience of teaching and climbing indoors.

 

There are 8 places on the course and the cost is £90 per person. Candidates will need to be registered for the award before booking onto the training course.
