DIRECTIONS
Some people say we’re in the middle of nowhere – we
like to think we’re in the middle of everywhere! We’re
just a few miles from the A55 to the north, the A5 to the east,
and there is straightforward access from the Llyn in the west and
along the west Wales coast from the south. We also have some of
the best views of Anglesey, Llyn and Ireland! For map-readers, our
grid ref is SH534607. You can also find Beacon Climbing on Multi-Map.
From the A55 and the north:
EG: BANGOR, ANGLESEY, LLANDUDNO.
Follow signs from the A55 towards Llanberis, where you will join
the A4244. On meeting the junction with the A4086, turn RIGHT towards
Caernarfon, following the Beacon tourism signs. Turn LEFT on reaching
the village of Llanrug, and follow the road for a little over 1½
miles until reaching our large sign and approach drive on the left
hand side of the road. Approx 400m to the car parks at the top.
From the A5 and the east:
EG: BETWS Y COED, CAPEL CURIG, LLANBERIS.
Follow the A5 through Betws y Coed to Capel Curig. Turn LEFT at
Capel Curig, following signs for Llanberis, then past Llanberis
towards Caernarfon on the A4086. Turn LEFT on reaching the village
of Llanrug, and follow the road for a little over 1½ miles
until reaching our large sign and approach drive on the left hand
side of the road. Approx 400m to the car parks at the top.
From Llyn and the south:
EG: PWLLHELI, CRICCIETH, PORTHMADOG, FFESTINIOG.
Head towards Caernarfon, then follow the A4085 to Waunfawr (on the
road to Beddgelert). Turn LEFT in Waunfawr where you should see
our brown tourism sign, continue to a second brown sign, turn LEFT,
then after a few hundred metres you will see our large sign and
approach drive on the right hand side of the road. Approx 400m to
the car parks at the top.
From Beddgelert:
From Beddgelert, head north (towards Caernarfon) on the A4085. On
reaching the village of Waunfawr, turn RIGHT where you see our brown
tourism sign, continue to a second brown sign, turn LEFT, then after
a few hundred metres you will see our large sign and approach drive
on the right hand side of the road. Approx 400m to the car parks
at the top.
By public transport:
There are regular buses from Bangor, Caernarfon and Llanberis
to Llanrug. From Llanrug you may be able to get one of the occasional
buses that pass through Ceunant to Waunfawr, and get dropped off
at the end of the Beacon track. Otherwise, it can be quite a pleasant
half hour walk up the hill from Llanrug! Slightly quicker to walk
from Waunfawr.
